Women’s Ministries
2008/2009
Our
hope is that we would be able to
encourage you to walk with Jesus,
not for a day or week
but . . .
for a Lifetime.
BIBLE STUDIES
Come
get to know your Bible and the women at Damascus
during a weekly study time. Whether you’re just
beginning to become familiar with God’s word or
you’ve been studying your Bible for years, we’d
love to help you find a group that’s just right
for you!!
Fall/Winter 2008
The
following classes will be starting the week of
September 15th, and
we would love to have you join us. Both morning
and evening
sessions are planned, with nursery and
pre-school classes provided
for Tuesday morning classes (and Sunday evening
beginning 9/28).
Tuesday Morning-Precepts: Understanding the
Anger of God - A
study of Micah, Nahum and Habakkuk.
Micah: In the midst of despair there is always
hope, because God is
the God of hope. In the midst of corruption,
there is always the
Word of the Lord, the message of truth, because
God is not silent.
Nahum: Can a nation forget God, act with great
cruelty against
another nation, and escape the judgment of God?
Habakkuk: The central truth of Habakkuk spurred
a reformation in a
troubled monk who hated the righteousness of a
God he could not
please. His name was Martin Luther.
What
will come to pass in and through your life as a
result of studying truths written nearly two and
a half millennia ago?
Begins Sept. 16, 8:40–10:30 A.M. with Marilee at
DCC.
Childcare provided. 503-658-3179 Cost: $11 for
workbook.
Breaking Free
Making Liberty in Christ a Reality in Life,
leads us through a study of
the Scriptures to discover the transforming
power of Christian
freedom. Based on Isaiah 61: 1-4, this in-depth
study draws parallels
between the captive Israelites and today’s
believers.
Begins Sept. 16, 8:40–10:30 A.M. with Karen
Lampinen at DCC,
childcare provided. $16
MENTORING MINISTRY
This
is an opportunity for women of all ages to
connect with one another for mutual friendship,
spiritual growth, encouragement and
accountability.
Together you can choose to pursue an area for
growth such as developing your spiritual life
(i.e. Bible study, praying, journaling,
service), sharing a hobby or skill (i.e.
cooking, gardening, decorating, crafts), or
exploring a mutual interest (i.e. parenting,
health goals).
Whether you are seeking encouragement from a
more “seasoned” woman or you are a more
experienced woman who desires to reach out, the
Mentoring Ministry is here for you. Mentors
receive brief training and ongoing support.
