Spiritual Growth

The purpose of Spiritual Growth at Damascus Community Church is to strengthen and mature every believer, making disciples and presenting them complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28).

In order to accomplish our purpose, we offer various Bible teaching and fellowship opportunities to both children and adults.

We offer Adult Community Groups on Sunday morning and study groups at other times. Our adult classes focus on the study and application of God's Word. We offer a variety of subjects throughout the year. Please check our This Week at a Glance page for a listing of current adult classes.

Children's Ministries

Our goal at Damascus Community Church is to strengthen and mature every believer, and to present them complete in Christ, (Colossians 1:28). In order to accomplish this goal, we offer Sunday School for children from nursery age through sixth grade.

NURSERY
The nursery is located in the south hall on the main floor. A trained staff of volunteer adults and teens care for children from birth through 2 years of age. In case a child is needed by his/her parents, we have a numerical paging system in the auditorium.

CHILDREN
Our educational focus on Sunday mornings is Sunday School for children age 2 through sixth grade during our Community Group hour (9:45 am). Dedicated volunteer adult teachers and teen helpers serve in the pre-school and school age departments. Currently, we offer Sunday School for pre-school age children during all three morning services (8:30 am, 9:45 am and 11:00 am). This is a curriculum based education and equipping ministry to lead our children to Christ and to mature them in their knowledge of, and relationship with, Christ.

AWANA CLUBS
AWANA is our Sunday evening ministry (5:45 pm - 7:30 pm) to children kindergarten through 6th grade. This ministry is strong on Scripture memory work and is attractive to young people because of its game time, prizes and special events. Each year we send a number of our qualified club members to the AWANA scholarship camp. We minister to our pre-school children through a program called “TeamKid.” This program is much more geared to their needs and learning abilities.

Student Ministries

Student Ministries exist to integrate students into the life stream of the congregation by providing programs for Junior High, Senior High and College age individuals.

We currently offer Sunday morning Bible study for Junior, Senior High and College age students at 9:45 a.m. Junior High Discipleship time on Sunday evenings is at 6:00 p.m., while a mid- week time on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. is a highlight for many Junior and Senior high students. The Flock and Vertical promote participation through age-related activities, retreats and studies throughout the year.

Small Groups

The purpose of Small Groups is to gather our adults together in small groups (generally 6-12 people) during the week with a focus on the building of relationships and meeting needs by the study of God's Word and the application of His truth to everyday living. Small Groups are made up of adults of all ages and in all stages of life - young and older, single and married, new Christians and "seasoned saints."

Small Group members share not only joys, but also failures and frustrations, and faithfully pray for one another. Small Groups generally form in September and meet regularly through the year ending in May.

For more information on the Small Group ministry, you may contact the church office at 503-658-3179.

Women's Ministries

Today's women vary greatly in their circumstances. While this means some of their needs vary, there are some needs common to all women. This really isn't as modern as one might think.

From the beginning book of the Bible we find women in circumstances like ours and having the same kind of needs. The Bible tells us of God going to women to meet their needs and women looking to God for what they needed for themselves and others. This is the basis for DCC's Women's Ministries. We offer opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, encouragement, service and outreach. We do this with a desire to see each woman increasingly know God better, love Him, and live a life pleasing to Him in every way.

We invite you to join us!
