Our Mission:
MISSION: Damascus
Community Church exists to call and equip
people to become faithful followers of Jesus
Christ, for God’s glory and the building
of His Kingdom.
Our Vision:
VISION: The people
of Damascus Community Church seek to become
the visual presence of Christ in the community
of Damascus: to be a body of believers growing
in the Lord Jesus Christ, spiritually impacting
one another and the world we live in by
our obedience to, and proclamation of the
good news of Jesus Christ, learning together
to love and serve God and people.
VALUES:
Faithfulness; Holiness; Prayer; Worship;
World Impact; The Family; Biblical Education;
The Body of Christ; Involvement in Ministry.
FAITHFULNESS: We acknowledge that all we
are and have, as individuals and as a corporate
body, is entrusted to us as a stewardship
from God. As stewards, it is necessary that
we be found faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ,
whose we are and whom we serve. I Corinthians
4:1-5.
HOLINESS: God has called us to live a life
that is not conformed to this world, involving
a purity of life that is obvious to those
around us. Romans 12:3; I Peter
2:9-1 2.
PRAYER: The examples of the Lord Jesus Christ
and the early church, as well as the specific
commands of the Word of God, lead us to
vital, ongoing prayer ministries as a body.
Through prayer we seek guidance, power,
and God’s intervention in our various plans
and activities. Mark 1:35; Acts 12:5; I
Thessalonians 5:17.
WORSHIP: Worship is at the center of everything
that the church believes, practices and
seeks to accomplish. It is the destiny of
the Body of Christ, and the eternal occupation
of every believer, to recognize and express
the worthiness of God to be honored and
adored above all. Psalm 34:1-3; Matthew
22:37-38; John 4:23.
WORLD IMPACT: We seek to serve the world
in Jesus’ name, through evangelistic outreach
and other forms of help. This will include
various outreach events, as well as both
individual and corporate activities in witness,
missions, and practical service. Matthew
5:13-16; 25:31-46; Acts 1:8.
THE FAMILY: God’s instructions and priority
given to the family lead us to ministries
that will strengthen, encourage, enable,
and help the families we serve. Genesis
2:24; Ephesians 5:21-6:4; I Timothy 5:1-8.
BIBLICAL EDUCATION: Training is vital to
the process of making disciples and equipping
the saints for service, and thus emphasis
is placed on the preaching and teaching
ministries of DCC, as well as the Damascus
Christian School ministry. Our commission
is to make disciples who are learning obedience
to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:7-16; Matthew 28:18-20.
THE BODY OF CHRIST: We seek to grow in love
and unity as a local church, and to develop
strong relationships of mutual and complementary
ministry or service. This involves a work
of restoration in all of our lives as we
are transformed into the image of Christ,
and included are the important elements
such as grace, healing, forgiveness, thankfulness,
and appreciation. Ephesians 4:1-6; I Corinthians
12:12-27.
INVOLVEMENT IN MINISTRY: God’s plan is for
all members of the church to use their spiritual
gifts and natural abilities in serving others
in Jesus’ name, and to commit their various
resources to such work. Ephesians 4:7-16;
I Corinthians.
